The final time we are back down to Danetre Hospital to see pod surgeon Ian Reilly (https://podsurgeon.co.uk/). Much to my wife's relief I can now drive, which is a relief at 32 weeks pregnant she can retire from driving for the foreseeable while I have my turn.

Ian was really happy with how things are healing, with both heel and bunion looking great. (check out Ian's Instagram post for a more surgical view on things - He's worth a follow for some amazing posts on all types of interventions you can do with feet and a skilled team of hands).

Particularly the heel looked good, which on current appearance might accelerate a return to activity. Not by much, perhaps a jog at 2.5 months versus 3 months. But no complications and as you'll see from the video. As things stand I need to work on dorsiflexion of the big toe and some gentle calf stretches to work on mobility and tension, along with some old fashioned walking. Heel feels brand new walking. Limitation is the big toe with the toe-off phase as you roll forward feeling restricted. Given my toes still look like sausages its not surprising its restricted. But importantly the x-rays confirm the bone is heeled.

Hope to update next when I'm on the bike, which I'm allowed to do from now on. Will work meanwhile on flexibility and also some rehab work on ankle/foot strength on my other foot!
